Biography
Ashley brings the creativity and professional acumen of eighteen years
as a licensed architect and more than a decade of practical experience
in construction management to every residential or commercial design project.
A native of Virginia and a Florida resident, Ashley earned her Master of Science in Architecture (1998) and her Bachelor of Architecture (1997) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University. She is a licensed architect in both Florida and Virginia and a member in good standing of the American Institute of Architects.

Consultation
Every project begins with a fixed fee, in-person consultation with Ashley. She meets with the client on-site to discuss the scope of the modifications or new construction. During this meeting, Ashley thoughtfully explores the tangible and intangibles of the project: how the client wants the space to feel; what works about the space and what doesn’t; or, in commercial projects, how the space will be used or how to pair design with corporate personality and work style. Design options are not included in the consultation (see Schematic Phase). Consultation fees are site-specific and must be paid prior to scheduling. Please contact us for pricing.
Services
Schematic Planning
During schematic planning, Ashley conducts design research and drafts initial design plans based on the client consultation. In renovations, schematic planning begins when Ashley’s team carefully measures the space to develop the client’s “as built” plans which are a necessary first step for design planning. For new construction projects, including additions, the team gathers plat maps and other documents necessary to determine regulatory and other requirements. Ashley then begins to creatively identify manageable, impactful, and appropriate design choices that fit the client’s needs. She prepares initial drawings, which usually include several possible floor plans or anticipated elevations, and schedules a second, in person meeting. Ashley uses this meeting to assist the clients as they refine the initial design ideas with the goal of advancing to final design development. Schematic planning is billed hourly. During this stage, Ashley is available to collaborate with contractors, tradesmen, or municipal entities if needed.
Services
Design Development Phase
By this stage, the client has chosen a final design and Ashley begins to verify the design specifications and draft dimensional plans. At this point, the client’s needs determine the scope of Ashley’s services. In addition to drafting final plans and construction documents, Ashley often assists the client with identifying and choosing flooring, interior finishes, and lighting. She works directly with appliance and other vendors on the client’s behalf to ensure specifications are properly reflected in the plans. She can also collaborate with contractors and tradesmen on plan review or construction coordination. Design development is billed hourly.

Construction Administration
Ashley is also available to ensure trade quality and design consistency throughout the construction process as the owner’s advocate. As with schematic planning and design development, when providing construction management services, Ashley remains oriented to her client’s needs and expectations. Construction administration is billed hourly.

Interior Design
Ashley also provides residential and commercial interior design services on an hourly basis.
